Update - October 14th Many of you probably receive the free weekly HR Matters E-Tip from PPS. This week's was of particular relevance. It is called "HR Issues and the Presidential Candidates" and it addresses McCain's and Obama's positions on: Employee Free Choice Act, Fair Pay Act, Family and Medical Leave Act Amendments, Minimum Wage and Workplace Flexibility. You can view it here. This is a helpful piece of information as we continue to educate ourselves prior to the election. Update - October 6th We have moved the SHRM News Feed page to the member-only area of the web site. Chapter members can create a login through our Home Page and view things such as the newsletter (and now the News Feed) there. Update - September 22nd By all accounts, last week's State Conference meeting was excellent. There were a number of our Chapter members present and they all agreed that it was nice to see our Chapter so well represented. As a side note, it has been confirmed that the Conference will once again be at Kalahari in September of 2009. We've left some of the below-information regarding the Ohio Healthy Families Act available on the site. Even though this proposed legislation will not be on November's ballot, we have been advised that it may reappear on the Federal level, in the same form, after November. Please continue to monitor this site for future updates. As November approaches, our Board of Directors is looking for interested Chapter members that might like to volunteer some time in one of the several roles we currently have vacant. Please let Craig or Tammie know of your interest. You can contact them through this link. Previous Updates Governor Ted Strickland issued a memo yesterday regarding the Ohio Healthy Familes Act. You can view it here. The Governor also issued information on the Principles of a Paid Sick Act and Why a Compromise is needed, which you can click on to view. The Summer edition of the Newsletter will still be available for a short time. Log in to your profile through this site and a "Newsletter" page will appear. You can view it there. |
